Sanborn is a city located in Barnes County, North Dakota, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population of Sanborn was 190. The city is situated on the eastern side of the Sheyenne River and is located approximately 12 miles southeast of Valley City. Sanborn was founded in 1892 and was named in honor of American Civil War general John B. Sanborn. The city is primarily a farming community and has a total area of 0.26 square miles, all of which is land. Sanborn is served by the Barnes County North School District. The city has a small business district and is home to several local shops, restaurants, and churches.
